Under the skin, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV kicks things off by including the previously optional Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system as standard. It now has rear-biased power distribution to unlock thrilling handling that calls upon the brand's rally-racing heritage.

There's a similar drivetrain setup to the previous Outlander PHEV, namely a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motors. However, an exclusive twin-motor setup has taken the helm to power the front and rear axles, helping to provide those standard S-AWC capabilities and boost standard power to an impressive 249 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.

You'll find the signature EV, Series Hybrid, and Parallel Hybrid powertrain modes to dial in your 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV fuel economy or performance preferences. In addition, the all-electric Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV range has been significantly enhanced; a manufacturer-estimated 38 miles of electric range² lets you go further without using any gas, which also means you won't be making noise or emissions then. Meanwhile, an EPA-estimated 64 MPGe² takes you to your destination with minimal fuel-ups. Unlike many PHEVs, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV also offers DC Fast Charging capabilities to top up that electric range during your lunch break.

Plus, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has one-pedal driving capabilities, regenerative braking, three driving modes (ECO, Normal, or Power), and four terrain modes (Mud, Gravel, Snow, or Tarmac) to handle every drive you take with precision.

The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV occupies the same exterior-size class within our new Mitsubishi inventory as it did before. However, it now has an extra row of seats that lets it join the "typical" Outlander in the unique category of being a small SUV with three-row seating.

Full dimensions have not yet been released, but for reference, the 2022 model is 184.8 inches long, 70.9 inches wide, and 67.3 inches tall. We expect the 2022 model's 66.6 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume and 102.1 cubic feet of maximum passenger volume to be somewhat extended.
